Three Qualitative Research Posts (Health Experiences Research Group, University of Oxford)

The Health Experiences Research Group, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, is advertising three posts for qualitative researchers at the University of Oxford.

Qualitative Researcher in Ethnography

The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences is seeking a qualitative researcher (ethnography) with a PhD in social science and experience of ethnographic research. This is an excellent opportunity to take part in an NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research Programme on assessing alternatives to face-to-face consults with patients (Alt-Con Study). The study is a collaboration between the University of Oxford and the Universities of Bristol, Edinburgh and Exeter. The post will include regular travel around Oxfordshire and occasionally to London and Bristol. The postholder will be required to recruit patient and professional participants, conduct observations and interviews with GPs, practice staff and patients in participating general practices, analyse data and write reports. Applicants will have excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to work independently and a proven ability to publish qualitative research.

This post is available full-time, fixed-term for 12 months.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 9 February 2015 and interviews will be held on the 4 March 2015. Grade 7: £30,434 – £37,394 p.a.

Qualitative Researcher (2 posts)

The Health Experiences Research Group (led by Professor Sue Ziebland), within the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, is seeking two early career/postdoctoral qualitative researchers to join the internationally regarded HERG team. This excellent opportunity has arisen through funding for several new research projects; successful candidates will contribute to several qualitative studies run by senior members of HERG.

Where suitable candidates at Grade 7 are not identified we will consider making an appointment at Grade 6 (£27,057 – £32,277 p.a.) with an appropriate adjustment of duties. You will hold a PhD in a social science or possess equivalent research experience (or hold a degree/Masters in a relevant subject for appointment at Grade 6), have proven experience of qualitative research, preferably within a healthcare setting, with excellent interpersonal, analytic and communication skills. The grade of the appointment will depend on the level of qualifications and/or experience.

The posts are available full-time, fixed-term for 1 year. Part-time working will be considered.

Closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Thursday 12 February 2015. We plan to hold interviews on Thursday 26 February 2015. Grade 7: £30,434 – £37,394 p.a. (pro rata for part-time)
