The Medicine Unboxed Creative Prize 2014 is a competition for a creative work that illuminates the relationship between the arts and medicine.
What works are eligible? A ‘creative work’ can be a visual artwork, piece of literature, music, performance, digital installation or any other original creative output.
How the prize process works The prize has a two-stage process. The first stage asks you to express your interest. In the expression of interest we are interested in understanding more about you as an artist and how you engage with our theme of the interface between arts and medicine. We realise that you may have existing work that speaks to that theme, or may already be exploring the theme in ongoing work; or you may be inspired to create entirely new work around our theme. We’ll create our shortlist based on both your approach and your creative work, and so we’d like you to submit materials that give us both a sense of you as an artist and an insight into your work – complete, in progress, and yet to be realised.
What should be included in my expression of interest? The expression of interest should be sent to [email protected] and contain your contact details (email, phone, IM, Twitter), a short biography of the author(s) and a description and/or images, recording or other materials that represent the creative work you would like to submit.
The shortlisting process Based on your expression of interest the judges will create a shortlist of artists from whom they will invite final submissions. The judges may contact you to get more information about your intended submission.
The shortlist will be published on 1 July 2014.
