Dr Juanita Ruys, Director of The University of Sydney node of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions in Australia is calling for papers for a prospective volume entitled The Contingent History of Empathy. The volume will focus on historical periods and historical and literary contexts in which empathy was specifically devalued or considered a negative or dangerous emotion.
