Examining how the relationship between literature and medicine is being positioned in contemporary writing.

Dr. Anne Whitehead is a Senior Lecturer in Modern and Contemporary Literature & Theory at Newcastle University. She has a particular interest in the intersections between trauma and literature, and literature and memory. In these contexts she has published on the work of Pat Barker, W.G. Sebald and Kazuo Ishiguro, amongst others. Her current work broadens out from these concerns to centre on how the relationship between literature and medicine is being positioned in contemporary writing, with a particular focus on representations of the medical doctor.
