Launched in September 2010, the Centre for Medical Humanities Blog has developed into a vibrant resource for researchers, healthcare practitioners, students, artists and others interested in the intersections between the humanities, arts, medicine and health. In addition to calls for papers and conference announcements from a wide range of relevant disciplines, we’ve published essays, reviews, travelogues and poetry from contributors across the world.
During that time there have been some exciting developments in the field of medical humanities, so to celebrate the publication of our 500th post we’d like to introduce you to some of the newest additions to the medical humanities websphere. Three new sites – Medical Humanities Research Network Scotland, the Leeds Centre for Medical Humanities Blog, and the International Health Humanities Network – suggest it’s been a golden year for the medical humanities up north. Graphic Medicine and Nurse Stories animate and widen the contemporary focus of the medical humanities, while The History of Emotions Blog and Medicine, Health, and History deepen its historical focus. A final mention to the Durham-based project Hearing the Voice, which we hope will help forge new directions for interdisciplinary research in the field.
A sincere thank you to all of our authors and contributors for sharing your ideas and information, and to our followers for your support and interest. As always, we welcome feedback, comments and contributions, and encourage you to keep up with what’s happening on the blog via email subscription or [twitter-follow screen_name=’mdiclhumanities’].
