Springboard – Health of the Public 2040 (Grant scheme, Academy of Medical Sciences)

posted on February 17, 2025

We are delighted to announce a new call for applications under our Springboard scheme, for researchers working in the health social sciences and medical humanities. Springboard – Health of the Public 2040 offers a bespoke package of support to researchers. Awards are available to researchers at the start of their first independent post to help launch their research careers. This includes funding of up to £50,000 over two years and access to the Academy’s acclaimed mentoring and career development programme. This scheme is run by the Academy of Medical Sciences with the support of the Wellcome Trust.

We welcome applications working on projects related to the environments and themes that have emerged from the Academy’s ‘Improving the health of the public by 2040’ report.

To be eligible to apply you must:

  • Hold an established academic research position at your institution.
  • Identify as a researcher working in the health social sciences or medical humanities and your proposed project must align with the environments and themes that have emerged from the Academy’s ‘Improving the health of the public by 2040’ report.
  • Be within 3 years (FTE) of appointment to your first independent salaried position and have sufficient time remaining in this post to complete the proposed project.

The deadline for applications is 12 December 2016. Applications must be made using the Academy’s online system. For more information on the awards and how to apply, please see the Academy’s Springboard – Health of the Public 2040 webpage.
