Somaesthetics: Between the Human Body and Beyond (CfP, Szeged, Hungary, 14-16 May 2018)

The Hungarian Philosophical Association, the University of Szeged and the Pro Philosophia Szegediensi Foundation is organizing an international conference on “Somaesthetics: Between the Human Body and Beyond”. This follows on from the successes of the conferences in 2014 (‘Aesthetic Experience and Somaesthetics’) and 2017 (‘The Soma As the Core of Aesthetics, Ethics and Politics’) which both drew over twenty participants from across the globe. Resulting papers have already been published in Pragmatism Today, and more are soon to be published in a forthcoming volume with Brill.

Our new conference seeks to broaden the conversation of somaesthetics by engaging not only aesthetics but also the other fields of culture.

Experts, teachers, and researchers in the fields of aesthetics, arts, philosophy, ethics, life sciences, social sciences, and politics are invited to submit papers for the international conference which will take place in Szeged (Hungary) on 14-16 May 2018. The confirmed keynote speaker will be Prof Richard Shusterman (Florida Atlantic University).

Standard papers, as well as poster and electronic presentations, are possible. The official language of the conference is English. Deadline for submitting abstracts is 15 January 2018.

An ISBN publication with all accepted papers will be produced.
