Reframing Disaster (CfP, Conference, Leeds, 28-29 November 2014)

posted on January 27, 2025

Reframing Disaster | 28–29 November 2014 | University of Leeds

The ‘Reframing Disaster’ conference is connected to an AHRC-funded research project led by Dr Anthony Carrigan, entitled ‘Representing Postcolonial Disaster’, and will be part of a week-long series of activities designed to coincide directly with the Bhopal disaster’s 30th anniversary on 2–3 December, and with the South Asian tsunami’s 10th anniversary later that month.

Please note that the deadline for abstract submissions has been extended until 7 September. Proposals for papers are welcome from across disciplines and for presentations in a range of formats. We are keen to see papers considering disasters in relation to health and medicine. For more details please visit the conference website.

The organisers are also pleased to announce that the conference will be accompanied by an exhibition, including work by the world-renowned photographer Raghu Rai, at the Tetley Gallery, 26 November – 7 December.
