The cross-disciplinary Program « People in medicine » – Université Sorbonne Paris Cité USPC – is offering a postdoctoral position in History and Philosophy of Sciences, to be recruited at the Humanities Institute, University Paris Diderot.

The successful candidate will perform a comparative approach of modern history and the evolution of Social Sciences and Medical Humanities in the field of medical education.

The successful candidate will study the disciplines, contents, pedagogical and evaluation methods in social sciences and medical humanities units as they are taught in medical education – with a particular focus on the following countries: England, Canada, France, Netherlands, and the United-States. The notion of Medical humanities is considered here in a broad sense, including bioethics, sociology, anthropology, psychology, History and Philosophy of science, moral and political philosophy, literature and arts.

The postdoctoral researcher will also work on drawing the exchange and innovation possibilities for the French medical courses.

The postdoctoral researcher will be working in connection with all the national, international and academic partners from the “The Person in Medicine” consortium.

The postdoctoral researcher will work within one of the axes of the program entitled: “Historical and contemporary perspective on subjectivities of healthcare professionals.”

This position is available for one year. There is an opportunity for one more year thereafter.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a PhD in one of the following fields: history, philosophy, health/medicine anthropology or public health. Ability to work, communicate and write in English.
