Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is embarking on an exciting new interdisciplinary initiative in Life Sciences, and as part of this we shall be holding a two-day conference on the 15 and 16 December 2014 on ‘Population Health in a Post-Genomic Era’ at the new Royal London Dental Hospital Education Academy, in our Whitechapel campus, London.

About the Conference.

The ethos for the conference will be exploration of the capacity, constraints and utility of using the data which are becoming increasingly readily available on both an individual’s genome and now post-genomic information (proteome, metabolome etc), perhaps in combination with information about their physical and social environment, to make inferences about their susceptibility to diseases and disorders and/or their response to treatment regimes.

The Speakers

We have a series of high-profile plenary speakers at this event representing each of the four research domains that we have identified as being important in this endeavour (Society, Population and Environment; Computational Biology; Basic Biomedical Science and Translational Biomedical Science).

Confirmed external speakers include:

  • Prof. Tim Hubbard – Genomics England
  • Prof. Anne Kerr – University of Leeds
  • Dr. Philippe Sanseau – GSK
  • Prof. Tim Spector – Kings College London
