Love and sex are complex matters. They carry profound personal and social significance. Our understanding of love and sex as objects of intellectual study straddles the social sciences, arts, humanities and sciences. Despite the multiple perspectives offered by these disciplines, much exceeds exploration by traditional academic means..
Love & Sex aka Per-Mission is a ground breaking initiative emerging from collaboration between a leading UK Dance Company, State of Emergency and the Durham University Centre for Sex, Gender & Sexualities. The work explores the joys and perils of sexual relationships and behaviour by bringing together the sciences and performing arts. Working with cutting edge research and internationally acclaimed choreography, Love & Sex aka Per-Mission involves a workshop and performance which invites engagement in news ways of thinking about and exploring issues around the body, gender, sexuality and consent. A limited number of places are available to participate in the workshop and see the performance. No dance experience is necessary.
The event takes place on Monday 10th March 2014 from 1pm to 4pm at St Aidan’s College.
