I am not the cancer: Art Installation & Launch of Impact Report (London, 24 June 2014)

We are delighted to invite you to the inaugural showing of the I am not the cancer art installation, an experiential event which gives a unique insight in to the lives of women living with advanced breast cancer. By attending the event you will hear first-hand the unheard stories of three UK patient case studies talking openly about the stark realities of living with advanced breast cancer. The patient audio interviews feature as part of an art installation created by acclaimed British artists Tim Wainwright and John Wynne, winner of the British Composer Award for Sonic Art.

In addition the event will also give you a chance to:

  • Be the first to hear the untold stories in breast cancer from three patient case studies
  • Learn of new research on the personal and societal burden of advanced breast cancer
  • Speak to leading experts in the field of advanced breast cancer to hear their perspectives on the unmet need in this often overlooked patient population

Research has shown that women living with advanced breast cancer often feel isolated from those involved in the fight against early stage disease. For the first time you will hear unique insights into the ‘other side’ of breast cancer.

The event also marks the launch of new, previously unpublished research highlighting the personal and societal burden of advanced breast cancer and unmet patient needs, including perspectives on access to treatments and services.

Leading UK experts will be delivering their views on the research, including clinical nurse specialist Gill Donovan, Velindre Cancer Centre, Cardiff and Psychologist Honey Lancaster-James from the University of Hull, as well as leading campaigners and patient advocates.
