Durham University Anthropology Department 2011-12 Seminar Series

The Durham University Anthropology department has just announced its Seminar Series 2011-12. The following seminars may be of particular interest to a medical humanities audience:

  • 12th October 2011: Prof Bob Simpson (Durham), “The Gift of the Gift of Life: Rhetorics of Potentiality in Gamete and Egg Donation”
  • 26th October 2011 (Joint seminar with the IAS and Centre for Medical Humanities): Prof Fabio Zampieri (Padua), “Anthropology and Evolutionary Biology in Medicine: Past and Present”
  • 8th February 2012: Dr Claudia Merli (Durham), “Identity Politics and Biopolitics in Thailand”
  • 15th February 2012: Dr Paloma Gay y Blasco (St Andrews), “’A Wondrous Adventure’: Mutuality and Individuality in Internet Adoption Narratives”

All seminars take place in the Anthropology department seminar room on Wednesdays from 4-6pm. Coffee will be served in the 1st floor common room from 3pm onwards.
