Durham’s Centre for Humanities Engaging Science and Society (CHESS) welcome interested individuals to attend the next Research Group meeting, which will take place on 25 November, from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm, in the Philosophy Department seminar room in 51 Old Elvet at Durham University. A special guest, Dr Waney Squier, will join us for an informal discussion related to causal inference in health sciences.
Dr. Squier, a CHESS associate, is a neuropathologist at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals and a leading medical expert defending parents in shaken baby cases; for a number of years, she has been challenging mainstream medical ideas about shaken baby syndrome. We are pleased to have the opportunity to discuss with her the complex and important issues that arise in connection with this work and with causal inference in health sciences more generally.
If you or any of your colleagues are interested in attending the discussion and would like access to the short paper that we plan to read in preparation, please email CHESS member Dr. Wendy Parker. Thank you and we hope to see you there!
