It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our friend, long-time colleague, and arts-in-health visionary Mike White.
Mike has been an integral part of the Durham Centre for Medical Humanities since its earliest days as the Centre for Arts and Humanities in Health and Medicine, and was a research fellow of St Chad’s College.
He died at his home in Gateshead on Thursday 4 June 2015.
Over the coming days and weeks we will be celebrating the legacy of his contribution to and leadership of the international field of arts in health on this blog.
Mike’s funeral will be a humanist ceremony, led by Ian Hunter, on Friday 12th June at 3.00 pm at Saltwell Crematorium (Saltwell Road South, Gateshead, NE9 6DT). All welcome, with an invitation from Mike’s wife Catherine to wear cheerful clothes. Family flowers only. Donations to St Oswalds Hospice, Newcastle.
